UK Serials Group enjoy their conference by the sea

More than 750 delegates have attended the UK Serials Group annual conference held at Torquay's Riviera International Conference Centre.

Delegates from 26 countries including Australia, America and Scandinavia were represented at the conference with representatives from publishing houses and users such as university libraries and Government libraries enjoying lively debates.

Discussions at the conference included the digital supply chain: its impacts, effects, opportunities and challenges, the mass digitalisation of historical records for both access and preservation and buying printed material to administrating e-resources.

Business manager for UKSG, Alison Whitehorn, explained: "The conference was for anyone with a professional interest in serials, from producers to users of academic journals".

"In the past we've held our conferences at places such as universities but we've outgrown these now. This was the first time we've been to a non-academic purpose-built conference venue and the Riviera International Conference Centre was an ideal venue for us. It's very close to local hotels and has all the facilities we needed. The food was very good as well".

"Everything worked very well. The centre has a very good feel and we will hopefully be back there next year."

UKSG aims to exchange ideas on printed and electronic publishing and the process of scholarly communication.
