Over the last couple of months the Riviera International Conference Centre has welcomed a selection of high profile conferences and events that have generated some dazzling praise, exceptional testimonials and masses of media coverage.

Among the conferences was the ISBA (Independent Schools Bursars') Annual Conference, held in May. The annual conference ran for two days and attracted in excess of 600 delegates and exhibitors, all staying in many of the Bay's local hotels. Delegates were made up of bursars and senior management staff of more than 960 independent schools across the UK and overseas.

Last here in Torquay in 2005 and 2009 the ISBA's popular annual conference brought together many of the independent education sector's leading experts who offer topical updates for schools, networking opportunities and an exhibition of more than 100 professional advisers and companies.

The conference culminated with a glittering gala dinner on the final night, with former MP, broadcaster and novelist, Edwina Currie as their top billed guest speaker.

Mike Lower, General Secretary of ISBA said:
"The conference centre was super, the facilities excellent, the food for our lunches and annual dinner were delicious, and your staff were superb and could not have been more helpful".

"You will be pleased to hear the conference was a huge success. The RICC is a neat and compact centre and everyone felt this was one of the best conferences they had attended."

Amongst other conferences and events that the RICC has recently hosted are the Annual Toastmasters Conference (District 71), the Lions International Conference, the National Federation of Retail Newsagents (NFRN) and the Mr and Miss England finals.

It was the International Toastmasters first visit to the RICC. Phil Barber, the Riviera Renaissance Conference Chair said:
"Our delegates were surprised and very vocal about just how good this Conference was. When I look for what worked well it's obvious the location and the venue are superb. When you add in the dedicated support I found from all the staff at the Riviera International Centre it was the foundation for our highly successful event".

Julien Parrott, Chairman of Torbay Council, was a guest of the NFRN at their gala dinner and ball and said: "From my point of view, it was an outstanding success. All of the members of the Federation that my wife and I spoke to, and there were hundreds there, were delighted with the exemplary service that they received at the RICC. The attentiveness of all of the RICC staff was second to none and many NFRN members commented on how well they were being looked after. They fully realised the efforts that you (Simon Jolly, General Manager) and the team had gone to in order to provide such a high level of service to well over 400 guests".

RICC General Manager, Simon Jolly said, "We have all worked immensely hard over the last few months in ensuring these conferences run like clockwork. It takes a lot of hard work to bring a conference to Torquay, so it is vital our clients leave satisfied and delighted which in turn endorses the RICC to the national conference community and encourages repeat business".

Last weekend the English Riviera hosted the Mr and Miss England contest concluding with grand finals held at the RICC. This event not only attracted in the region of 1000 people to the resort over a 4 day period, but also awarded the English Riviera with unprecedented local and national media coverage.
