Conference Torquay takes the strain so conference delegates can take the train!

Travelling to Torquay for a conference is about to get so much easier with the launch today, of a brand new travel scheme for Delegates. First Great Western and Conference Torquay are collaborating to offer discounted rail fares to Delegates attending conferences on the English Riviera.

The scheme will provide discounted rail travel to Conference Delegates from all main First Great Western stations, as well as many of the connecting routes to First Great Western from the Home Counties, all accessible through an online booking facility.

Nicky Harding, Conference Torquay said: "With train journey times of just under 3 hours from London and the Home Counties and now with reduced fares for Delegates, Torquay on the English Riviera has even greater appeal for conferences.

By also taking advantage of the competitive conference rates at the Riviera International Conference Centre, First Great Western and Conference Torquay have made holding a conference on the English Riviera even more attractive in these times of austerity."

Conference Torquay is also able to make travel arrangements for groups of Delegates travelling from the same station enjoying the use of first class lounges in which Delegates can meet prior to boarding the train.

David Gardner, Account Manager First Great Western said: "We are delighted to be working with Conference Torquay and the Riviera International Conference Centre to offer a special rail travel option to Delegates from across the south of England and south Wales. Clearly we hope that this will encourage more conferences to choose Torquay as their destination and rail travel as their chosen means of getting there."

The launch of the scheme is taking place today at London Paddington, on Platform 1, in the First Class Lounge. Among the guests are Conference Organisers from a selection of forthcoming and past conferences at Torquay's dedicated conference and exhibition centre, the Riviera International Conference Centre (RICC), along with representatives from some of the UK industry's top conference publications.

Veronica Hall, British Association of Day Surgery said: "The British Association of Day Surgery are delighted to be returning to the RICC, Torquay with their 2012 Annual Scientific Conference. Apart from the fact that the venue fits the size of our conference well, the price is good and the catering is great. We welcome the new Conference Rail Fare deals which will greatly reduce the cost of travel for our delegates to the English Riviera".
